Branch Meetings

East Hants Labour is a CLP (Constituency Labour Party) made up of 3 branches:

Alton, Liphook and Petersfield

What happens and why you should come along

Monthly meetings – Each branch usually meet once a month at a local venue.  

These meetings are much smaller and more informal than the CLP meetings. We still have an agenda so that we know what will be discussed, and the secretary will take minutes so we have a record of what was decided.

We sometimes incorporate a talks on into our monthly meetings. As a result we have cut the formal part of the meeting down to the bare minimum and use the Executive Branch structure to conduct the (boring) bits of business and then report back to the branch meetings.

If you have a subject you would like to talk about at one of our meetings, or would like to see discussed, please let the branch secretary know.

Campaign planning – Our branch meetings are an opportunity to decide what issues we want to focus on as a branch and plan how to take action.

Have your say – If you have an issue you want to discuss the best way to do this is to add an item to the agenda. This ensures there is time allocated in the meeting for you to share your thoughts and discuss it with other members. Just email or speak to the branch secretary.

Debate – We are a friendly group of people but that doesn’t mean we always agree! These meetings are a great place to respectfully debate with other members about all sorts of topics. 

We’re really nice! – We understand it can be daunting coming to your first meeting. However, we promise it’s worth overcoming the nerves to meet a group of like-minded people and to start making a positive difference in your community. An experienced member can meet you one-to-one first if you’d prefer, just get in touch with the membership secretary to arrange this.
