Gaynor Austin
Gaynor Austin is standing as the East Hampshire Proposed Parliamentary Candidate in the Election 2019.
I am honoured to be Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for East Hampshire.
I am proud to have been elected as a Borough Councillor in North East Hampshire actively representing the constituents of the ward in which I have lived for 25 years. I have two daughters, both of whom attended Alton College.
I care deeply about the welfare of the people who live here and about the future we provide for our young people.
I am passionate about reversing the cuts to our education system and NHS; halting climate change; providing genuinely affordable, energy efficient homes; revitalising our high streets and enriching our communities.
Austerity has caused our economy to stagnate; resulting in slower growth every year since 2010 and leaving the average household £3,629 a year worse off.
Labour will invest in the people of this country and those earning less than £80,000 per year (that’s 95% of us) will not pay a penny more in Income Tax.
I believe that Labour is the only Party which can deal competently with the issue of Brexit; giving a truly informed and clear choice back to the people of this country. Labour is the only Party seeking to unite our fractured society, rather than deepen the divide.
I have considerable experience of working in our public services, first as an auditor in the NHS and then as a primary school teacher, also serving on the Board of Governors. More recently, I ran a small business from home and understand the difficulties faced by the increasing number of those in self-employment.
It was seeing how our precious public services have been decimated under the Coalition and Conservative Governments that drove me to stand for election.
As your MP for East Hampshire I too would seek to unite, to listen and to serve as your strong voice in Westminster.
As your Labour MP, I promise to stand up for everyone in East Hampshire, not just the privileged few.
